内容記述 | After receiving survey data indicating a severe lack of interest in both L1 and L2 reading among first- and second-year English majors at a private university in Japan, an action research plan was devised aimed at fostering English L2 reading comprehension and motivation through music. This treatment plan utilized narrative songs and lyrics with a sociocultural pedagogical approach to supplement the assigned textbook for a second-year undergraduate elementary-level reading class in Japan. The following paper will discuss the basis for and the results of this applied treatment which sought to increase interest levels in English L2 reading, literal reading comprehension, and final-project completion rates by integrating reading with music. | |||||
