内容記述 | This paper investigates the effects of intercultural events held in Adachi public junior high schools with the help of international students from Meikai University. Questionnaire surveys were conducted after each event among junior high school students to find out what they thought about the event. 694 students responded and the results were calculated and analyzed through statistical methods such as regression analysis. The results show that over 90% of the students enjoyed communicating with the international students in English and that approximately three out of five students had successful experiences in English communication. The results also show that junior high school students successfully learned something about different cultures. In addition, international students also enjoyed the events and learn about Japanese school culture to some degree. Moreover, the results show that over 80% of junior high school students were more motivated to study English, which is a hoped-for attitude students should have after the events. Finally, this study presents a student model who was successfully motivated to study English harder after the events. The model illustrates factors helping students to become motivated toward English learning. | |||||
