| 内容記述 | People deceive others for various purposes. Kim et al. （1999） proposed “a cultural model of deceptive communication motivation” focusing on the relationships between self-construal （independent or interdependent） and deceptive motives （self-oriented or other-oriented）. In this research process, the measurement scale “Self- vs. Other-Benefit Deception Motivations” was created. Previous research has shown that only interdependent self-construal showed positive relations with both self- and other-oriented deception. （Kim et al., 2008; Hara & Kim, 2015）. However, considering the usefulness of the scale of other-oriented deception in relation with other variables for future research in Japan, it is meaningful to clarify the factor structure of the scale. First, a two-factor model （self-benefit and other-benefit deception motivations） was tested by exploratory factor analysis （EFA）, and another EFA was performed to clarify the factor structure without fixing the number of factors. Then, confirmatory factor analysis （CFA） was used to compare the results of these two EFA analyses. The results indicated that a three-factor model （self-oriented deception motivation, other-face maintenance motivation, and sympathetic performance motivation） showed a better fit to the Japanese sample than a two-factor model. Implications were discussed. | |||||||||
